Collaborative Approach
One of the foundational beliefs in my practice as a therapist is that collaboration and connection are essential in a therapeutic relationship. Collaboration with kindness and compassion has proven to provide a safe and secure foundation for healing through therapy together. Clients can expect to feel as if we are on the same team working toward shared goals together.
Trauma-Informed Practice
A large part of my foundational practice as a therapist includes approaching all individuals from a trauma-informed lens. This requires connectedness, collaboration, understand and empathy. Being trauma-informed not only requires extensive knowledge of trauma, but how to assist clients long after the trauma has occurred to help them move forward toward healing. As a client, you don’t have to have experienced trauma to benefit from Trauma-Informed Care.

When I decided to go to therapy for the first time as a young adult, I was nervous, anxious and unsure of what to expect. Turns out, it was the best thing to ever happen to me. My own experience with a kind and compassionate therapist led me to my own career in mental health. As a therapist, I strive to advocate, collaborate and to never forget what it is like to sit on the other side of that chair.

I enjoy spending quality time with my family which includes my two dogs. I especially love wandering around Target and getting new snacks to try. I also love going to concerts and spending time with friends!

My goal as a therapist is to create a safe and welcoming environment for all of my clients. I encourage feedback from my clients, and will ask for it periodically. It is important for me to know what is going well and what could be improved upon throughout our work together. I view therapy as a collaborative process and want to work with you to meet your goals together. I align with person-centered, holistic mental health treatment by using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT), Attachment-Based Therapy (ABT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) in my therapeutic practice. Something fun that you should know about me is that my favorite animal is a sloth. Three-toed, two-toed, doesn't matter! I think they're all adorable.

There are WAY too many good songs to choose from, but recently, I have been enjoying listening to “Gut Punch” by Nick Jonas. As far as books go, I really enjoy a good fictional romance novel or a memoir.

Being open-minded is what helps us grow as clinicians. I am dedicated to attending various trainings as well as consulting with fellow mental health providers to keep myself relevant. I also specialize in Perinatal Mental Health, Substance Use Disorders and Trauma Disorders, and continue to keep myself up to date in these areas to meet client needs and maintain my understanding of trauma-informed treatment.

I believe that my core values are directly what drives my work as a therapist. I believe in providing ethical care and am deeply concerned with justice and systemic related issues as well as advocacy within this realm. As a provider, I will always seek to protect those who need protecting and advocate for change in any way possible. I take all of this into great consideration within my practice as a therapist as well as who I strive to be as a human being.
Introducing me:
When deciding on a therapist, knowing a little more about them can be helpful to feel more comfortable and confident about moving forward. Transparency and authenticity are important core values that I hold, which transfers over into my therapeutic approach. Below are a few questions that may help you to understand more about me as a human and a therapist!
Payment:
Payment for services is due at the time of appointment. If there are any concerns with payment/pricing, please don’t hesitate to discuss.
I am currently providing care with out-of-network insurance coverage and will utilize courtesy billing to make this less of a hassle on clients and bill your insurance provider directly. Clients are responsible for understanding their out-of-network coverage and responsibility.
Out-Of Network Benefits Explanation:
Most insurance plans have out-of-network benefits that ensure that you have autonomy to choose the provider that you would like to work with. Since I am not contracted directly with any insurance carriers, I am able to use courtesy billing to bill insurances using out-of-network benefits. Many out-of-network providers will reimburse you for a portion or most of my session fee. It is important to discuss with your specific insurance plan what your out-of-network benefits are, if you have a deductible that needs to be met, and what your reimbursement percentage is. If you would like to discuss further, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

My goal as a therapist is to always create and cultivate a welcoming and non-judgmental space during every session that we meet. I want our sessions to feel supportive and collaborative. I also recognize that vulnerability and trust comes with time when building any therapeutic relationship. I am always open to feedback, and encourage clients to share this with me. I will check in periodically with my clients to ask for some feedback and reflection about their experience with our sessions so they can be better tailored to you and your needs as we continue forward.
During our first session, I will ask for some background information in a conversational format, which will help me to get to know you as well as better understand what brings you to therapy at this time. I will expect that before our first session, you have a general understanding of the practice policies and that if you have any questions, we can tend to them within this first session.
Subsequent sessions are reflective of what you, the client, would like to focus on. Sometimes, we may focus on one topic for several sessions. Other times, we will go back and forth, especially if something distressing comes up that you would like to discuss and process, even if it is “off topic”. Sessions with me will ebb and flow, but I will always be intentional about bringing us back to your desired goals.
I want therapy sessions with me to feel genuine, authentic and transparent.
